Plan and Keep It Simple
Planning is one of the keys to weight loss success and putting together a meal plan should be the first item on your agenda. While a Monday–Sunday plan works fabulous for keeping balance, creating a plan that covers 2–3 weeks, will help prevent boredom from kicking in too early in your journey.
Try to keep it very simple at the start, research nutritious recipes online that only use a few ingredients and don’t require hours of preparation or include too many unusual ingredients. This time of year we love our soups, stews, and curries, summer we are loving our salads and fresh produce. If you need some meal inspiration, think about assigning a theme to each night of the week – fish, chicken, soup, vegetarian – and plan your meals accordingly.
Planning your snacks too, nothing like whipping out the carrot sticks or almond snack pack to refuel during the day.
Stick to a shopping list when picking up ingredients for your meals. Without a list to stick to, there’s every chance you’ll head home with some of the foods you’re supposed to be avoiding.
By working through your recipes and putting together a comprehensive list of ingredients for the week’s meals, you’re more likely to leave with what you came for, and you won’t have forgotten anything, eliminating the need to head back to the shops and face temptation all over again. We know more times than not that we’ve headed home from Aldi with random ‘not on the list’ items like the time we bought a home spray tanner in the middle of winter!
Cook in advance
If cooking isn’t your thing, the thought of preparing a week’s worth of meals every Sunday could send you running for the nearest takeaway spot.
But here’s another way to think about it: you won’t have to cook for six whole days! Plus, you’ll have way more time to yourself every day. Time to take an extra yoga or Pilates class, personally we love Elixr gyms at Bondi Junction and the city.
Recruit family and friends to come with you on the summer ready journey. Because according to Rodalewellness.com,
“In a university study cited in the Journal of Consulting and Clinical Psychology, those who recruited three friends or family members to assist them in their quest to lose weight had better weight loss results than those who had no buddy system to fall back on”
Accountability buddies aren’t just great when doing business – they can be great for weight-loss too! Keeping you accountable by checking in with you at the beginning and end of each day, join you for a Pilates or yoga class when all you want to do is put your feet up, keep you company during your weekly meal prep, and send delicious new recipes your way.
Keeping you accountable by checking in with you at the beginning and end of each day or keeping you company during meal prep or just someone to share your snacks with over a drink.

But practicing a zero-waste lifestyle is near impossible with the amount of packaging that comes with products. And as the new year ticks over I wonder. . .
Can we adopt to lessen our own climate change footprint?
Changes that won’t cost you money and won’t require a lot of time and dedication to do.
